Eurofurence Hamburg

Established in 1998, the Eurofurence Convention stands as the pulsating core of the European "Furry" community. In 2023, the event was hosted in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg for the first time, having been previously based in Berlin until 2020. The term "Eurofurence" embodies a nexus for artists, fans, and aficionados of anthropomorphic animal portrayals — characters that meld human attributes with animalistic traits. Organized by Eurofurence e.V., this convention biennially draws thousands of attendees, typically in late August or early September, to the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH).

Situated in the city's heart, the CCH is notable for its contemporary design and prime accessibility. But Eurofurence is more than just a convention; it's a crucible of creativity. Central themes revolve around art, film, and, notably, costume design. Artists are given a platform to showcase their creations, many of which intriguingly represent anthropomorphic animal figures, to a discerning audience. A standout segment is the artist's sales area, where one-of-a-kind pieces are displayed and subsequently auctioned. Complementing this is the captivating Fursuit Show, where participants don meticulously crafted, often self-made costumes depicting everything from vibrant huskies and foxes to imaginative characters.
