According to GTAI – Germany Trade & Invest the Moroccan demand for electricity annually increases by six to eight per cent. Import dependency in the energy sector, consistently high demand in electricity generation and transmission as well as a high potential for renewable energies makes Morocco attractive for foreign investments. Against this backdrop the 2013 edition of elec expo, EneR Event & Tronica Expo will be held from 20 to 23 November 2013 at the Casablanca International Fairgrounds-OFEC. Morocco’s and Africa’s major energy, electrical engineering and electronics event is organised by FENELEC, the Moroccan Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energies, in close cooperation with Forum 7 and the German trade fair specialists fairtrade.

33 per cent of all investments to North Africa are directed to Morocco. Reasons for this include the political stability of the Kingdom as well as the large accessibility to Europe and West Africa. As an energy importer with simultaneously rising electricity demand, the Maghreb State builds on infrastructure projects in the billions and the development of renewable energies. According to the “Plan Solaire Marocain“, five solar thermal energy plants with a capacity of 2,000 MW will be built between 2015 and 2019. And with the program “Chorouk” Morocco encourages photovoltaic energy. Another important pillar in the future’s energy mix is wind energy. The target is to increase the capacity from the current amount of 280 MW to 2,000 MW in the year 2020. (Source: GTAI - Wirtschaftstrends Jahreswechsel 2012/2013 – Marokko)
Spain is the Guest of Honor in 2013. This has been agreed between AFME-the Spanish Electrical Manufacturers Association and the organisers. Spain and Morocco exchange goods of electro-technology with a volume of 1.086 billion Euros (2011). The Spanish exports of electro-technology to Morocco reached 342.2 million Euros, the Moroccan exports to Spain in this field summed up to 743.9 million Euros. (Source: ZVEI) As one of Morocco’s most important trading partners, the presentation of Spain as Guest of Honor contributes to further develop this comfortable position. The Spanish group pavilion will be supported by AFME.
Benin is the African Guest of Honor in 2013. The cooperation between Morocco and Benin in the energy field will be highlighted throughout the entire year 2013. Quite a few events have been scheduled between FENELEC and its Beninese partner AFIMEEB on the one hand, and the members of the two associations on the other hand.
Within the framework of the special program for the promotion of exports of technologies in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency, Germany will, for the first time, present itself at elec expo, EneR Event & Tronica Expo 2013, both, with an information stand and an affiliated participation of a group of companies.
Eager to exhibit their products are also Italian member companies of ANIMP/Federprogetti, the association representing leading Italian companies involved in engineering, construction and services for the global energy industry.
