Autonomous vessels are among the maritime industry’s key technologies of the future. Progress towards this goal is being made incrementally, ranging from partially autonomous support functions to fully self-navigating ships. To achieve this, the sector is deploying sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), automation systems and advanced communication technologies that enable independent navigation, decision-making and safe vessel operation.
Advanced Maritime Technology is a leading international trade fair dedicated entirely to this emerging field. Held annually each June at the prestigious RAI Amsterdam — one of Europe’s largest and most modern exhibition and conference venues, centrally located and easily accessible by both public transport and car — the event is organised by UKi Media & Events, an internationally recognised specialist in technology-focused trade exhibitions. The company also organises the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe, which takes place alongside Advanced Maritime Technology and provides a complementary thematic extension to the exhibition.
The event is exclusively aimed at trade visitors from across the maritime sector, including shipping companies, shipyards, technology providers, fleet operators, naval architects, classification societies, port authorities, terminal operators and research institutions. The focus is on specialised technologies and solutions that enable varying degrees of automation in ship operations — from collision-avoidance assistance systems to fully autonomous vessels.
Key topics include current developments in autonomous navigation systems, AI-driven decision-making, digital twins for maintenance and operations, predictive maintenance, remote operations centres, and advanced sensor and communication technologies such as satellite connectivity, 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). Cybersecurity, regulatory frameworks, liability issues and international legislation relating to autonomous shipping also feature prominently.
Sustainability is another major focus area. Autonomous systems are expected not only to reduce operating costs and improve safety, but also to lower emissions — for example through energy-efficient route optimisation, the integration of electric or hydrogen-based propulsion systems, and more efficient overall vessel operations.
Alongside the exhibition, an international conference brings together leading experts to present the latest research findings, technological innovations and practical case studies. The combination of exhibition space, live demonstrations and specialist presentations makes Advanced Maritime Technology a unique platform for innovation, knowledge transfer and professional exchange in the field of maritime autonomy.
With its clearly defined thematic focus, high level of specialist expertise and strategically advantageous location, Advanced Maritime Technology offers a distinctive opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into the current state and future of autonomous shipping, while exploring concrete technological solutions firsthand.
The Advanced Maritime Technology will take place on 3 days from Tuesday, 16. June to Thursday, 18. June 2026 in Amsterdam.
