German trade fair cities

Two thirds of the world's leading trade fairs take place in Germany. Exhibitors spend nearly half of their expenses in the trade fair city and its surroundings which of course is a benefit for the whole region and its inhabitants. In addition to a great image gain for regions where fairs are held there are further positive effects of the fair industry for cities and countrysides. Every year, approximately 9 to 10 million people visit 140 to 160 international trade fairs, thus securing about 250,000 jobs. Half of those are in the service industry. Higher tax revenues, a bigger turnover and an associated positive effect on the whole economy complement the positive results of the trade fair industry.
