The Affordable Art Fair Stockholm is an annual public fair for contemporary art with a clear mission: to make art accessible, affordable, and easy to experience—regardless of prior knowledge, budget, or collector status. It is part of the international Affordable Art Fair series, founded in 1999 by Will Ramsay in London. Organized by Ramsay Fairs Group Limited, the fair’s successful concept has won the hearts of art enthusiasts around the world, with editions in cities such as London, New York, Amsterdam, and Melbourne.
Since its debut in 2012, the Stockholm fair has established itself as a key event in the Nordic art scene. Since 2015, it has been held at Nacka Strandsmässan—a modern, light-filled venue located directly by the water and easily accessible by car or public transport. The open architecture of the space creates ideal conditions for presenting art in a welcoming and approachable environment.
Unlike traditional trade fairs, the Affordable Art Fair Stockholm is intentionally designed for a broad audience: from experienced collectors to curious newcomers, and those looking to buy their first piece of art. The fair removes barriers to entry and positions itself as a place of discovery rather than exclusivity.
At the heart of the fair is a clear concept: affordability, diversity, accessibility, and art education. The price cap for exhibited works is set at 90,000 SEK (approximately €7,500), with many pieces available starting at just 900 SEK. This enables buyers with smaller budgets to enter the world of art—without compromising on quality or originality.
The fair exclusively showcases contemporary works, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and mixed-media pieces. Both established artists and emerging talents are represented. Of particular note is the “Emerging Artist” section, which features up-and-coming voices—often serving as a springboard for future careers. This is complemented by the “Special Editions” area, offering limited editions, screen prints, etchings, and signed photographs—an attractive opportunity to acquire high-quality originals at fair prices.
A diverse supporting program includes curated tours, artist talks, and informative sessions such as “Collecting Art for Beginners”, which create additional entry points into the art world. These offerings foster open and engaging dialogue between artists, galleries, and the public—encouraging interaction without intimidation.
A defining feature of the Stockholm edition is its strong connection to the local and Nordic art scenes. Many participating galleries come from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and other countries in the region. The works on display often reflect a distinctly Nordic aesthetic—shaped by light, nature, and cultural context.
More than just a marketplace for contemporary art, the Affordable Art Fair Stockholm is an invitation to discover, learn, and collect. It represents an open and inclusive understanding of art—driven by a clear commitment to affordability, diversity, and approachability, with a particular focus on the vibrant Nordic art landscape.
The first day of the trade fair is usually reserved for trade visitors and journalists. The Affordable Art Fair takes place annually, and therefore for the 14th time previsibly in October 2026 in Stockholm.
