Art Basel Paris is a major international art fair that, since its founding in 2022, has enriched the cultural life of the French capital. As the newest location in the global network of renowned Art Basel fairs—alongside Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong—it not only expands the existing portfolio but also affirms Paris’s role as a central hub of the international art world.
Held annually in October, the fair is organized by MCH Swiss Exhibition (Basel) Ltd., a subsidiary of the MCH Group AG, known worldwide for its expertise in staging high-quality art and cultural events. Art Basel Paris brings together leading galleries, established artists, emerging talents, collectors, and an engaged public in an exclusive setting. It addresses both professionals and a wider audience, serving as a platform for exchange, market impulses, and cultural encounters.
The venue is the Grand Palais Éphémère, a modern, light-filled structure on the Champ-de-Mars opposite the Eiffel Tower. While the historic Grand Palais undergoes renovation, this temporary building offers an impressive backdrop that reflects the aesthetic and international orientation of the fair.
At its core is a curated gallery program showcasing significant positions in contemporary and modern art. This is complemented by the Emergence sector, which gives young galleries and upcoming artists space for new perspectives and experimental approaches. The Premise sector highlights independent, often conceptually demanding projects that may draw on historical references or explore unusual forms of presentation.
A key feature of the fair is its close connection to the local art scene. Collaboration with Parisian institutions, museums, and established galleries is an integral part of the concept. This creates a diverse public program of talks, special exhibitions, and artistic interventions that extend beyond the fairgrounds.
Many of the works engage with pressing social issues such as identity, memory, and the body. This thematic depth lends the fair additional relevance and encourages close engagement with the art on display. The curatorial design embraces innovative principles: flexible spatial concepts, a carefully structured narrative through exhibition architecture, and deliberate transitions between main and secondary areas create a multilayered visitor experience.
Art Basel Paris distinguishes itself through its unique profile, balancing international resonance with local grounding, an ambitious curatorial vision, diverse aesthetic expressions, and an exceptional venue at the heart of Paris. Each year it sets new standards—as a marketplace for outstanding art and as a cultural catalyst addressing contemporary social questions.
The first day of the trade fair is usually reserved for trade visitors and journalists. The Art Basel takes place annually, and therefore for the 5th time previsibly in October 2026 in Paris.
