CEM is an international conference and exhibition that has established itself as a leading platform for air emissions and air quality monitoring since its inception in 1997. As a key forum for continuous emissions monitoring, it brings together experts, manufacturers, regulators, and end users from around the world every two years.
Organised by ILM Exhibitions – a seasoned provider of industrial environmental and measurement technology events – CEM combines exhibition, conference, and networking into a single integrated format. The European edition of the event series is held in rotating cities across Europe, offering international industry professionals access to the latest technologies and developments.
Key topics include air quality monitoring, biogenic carbon verification, diffuse emissions, methane and greenhouse gas monitoring, and the role of hydrogen in industrial processes. The programme also covers current regulatory requirements, measurement uncertainty, and emerging issues such as PFAS, microplastics, and newly identified pollutants. With its interdisciplinary approach, the event addresses a wide range of sectors – including energy, cement, metals, chemicals, glass, agriculture, waste management, and maritime industries.
More than 50 companies showcase their latest technologies in the exhibition area – from gas analysers for CO₂, SO₂, NOₓ, and mercury to IoT-enabled data platforms and advanced systems for detecting trace substances, amines, and low-concentration particulate matter. Visitors gain practical insights into state-of-the-art solutions and upcoming innovations.
CEM Europe attracts a high-level professional audience, including environmental officers, plant operators, engineers, measurement specialists, regulatory authorities, legislators, consultants, research institutions, and NGOs. Knowledge sharing is at the heart of the event – facilitated through international case studies, interactive discussions, and direct dialogue with technology providers.
CEM Europe – more than just an exhibition: a key meeting point for those shaping the future of emissions monitoring.
The CEM takes place biennially, and therefore for the 17th time previsibly in September 2027 in Ljubljana.
