The Schlitz Castle Christmas, an annual highlight in the picturesque town of Schlitz, takes place on all four Advent weekends and enchants visitors with its unique atmosphere. This Christmas market tradition, which has developed over decades, is characterized by a special attraction: the world's largest Advent candle. At 42 meters tall, created by huge red swaths of flag fabric enveloping the keep of the Hinterburg, and topped with a glowing candle flame, this candle is famous well beyond Schlitz's borders and is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records.

The five castles are: the Vorderburg, the Hinterburg with the Hinterturm, the Ottoburg, the Schachtenburg, all integrated into the city wall forming the medieval city fortification, and the slightly outlying Schloss Hallenburg.
