The Meilen Christmas Market is a festive and lively meeting place that takes place annually on the first Sunday of Advent in Meilen. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Kirchgasse, Schulhausstraße, Fährenschulhausplatz, and the village square, over 150 lovingly decorated market stalls stretch out. These offer a wide range of products, from handmade advent wreaths, ceramic and glassware to unique jewelry and original Christmas gifts. Culinary delights are also plentiful, with visitors looking forward to traditional treats and warming beverages like tea and mulled wine.
The Christmas market is organized by the Meilen Market Association (MvM) in cooperation with the Meilen Crafts and Trade Association (HGM). These organizations not only bring together local artisans and merchants but also contribute to the promotion of regional cultural heritage.
For children, the Christmas market is especially magical, thanks to the traditional procession of St. Nicholas with angels, Santa Claus, Schmutzli, donkeys, and bell ringers. Another highlight is the Christmas tree decorating in the upper village square, a joy for both young and old.
