EMO Hanover

EMO Hannover is recognized as the world’s leading trade fair for the machine tool and metalworking industry. It serves as a global meeting point for innovation, expertise, and technological advancement. The name EMO stands for Exposition Mondiale de la Machine-Outil, highlighting the international scope of the event. Since its inception in 1975, EMO has established itself as a showcase for modern manufacturing technologies, attracting trade visitors from around the world to Hannover every two years in September. The event is organized by the Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken e. V., which has played a pivotal role in promoting and advancing metalworking technologies in Germany for decades.

At the heart of EMO Hannover lies the transformation of industrial production, driven by digitalization, artificial intelligence, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), cloud-based solutions, and connected machinery. Cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing, intelligent automation, and the integration of standardization frameworks like umati—for seamless machine communication—shape the core of the exhibition. EMO not only presents the current state of manufacturing but also offers a forward-looking perspective on its future. It provides in-depth insights, a remarkable breadth of topics, and addresses the specific needs of the industry with precision.

On display are high-precision machine tools, machining centers, production systems, control technology, software solutions, and accessories covering the entire metalworking process chain. Visitors come from all areas of the industry—from production, research, and development to procurement, sales, and executive management.

EMO Hannover is more than just an exhibition—it is a dynamic forum for knowledge exchange, networking, and product launches. High-level presentations, expert forums, and discussion formats facilitate direct interaction between manufacturers, users, and thought leaders from across the sector.

As part of an international trade fair concept, EMO alternates biennially with EMO Milano, strengthening European cooperation in the field of manufacturing technologies. The choice of Hannover as a venue is no coincidence: the region is one of Germany’s key industrial hubs. Its state-of-the-art exhibition grounds provide ideal conditions for an event of this scale and are easily accessible both nationally and internationally—via Hannover Airport, Germany’s extensive ICE rail network, and the nearby motorway junction.

On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 6 days of the fair, from 16. September to 21. September 2019, about 117000 visitors on the EMO in Hanover.

The EMO take place biennially, and therefore presumably in September 2027 in Hanover.
