Eurofurence Hamburg

Eurofurence is Europe's largest and most established convention for fans, artists, and enthusiasts of anthropomorphic animal characters, known as "Furries". Since its founding in 1998, it has become synonymous with a vibrant meeting place, offering a dynamic platform for art, performance, and community. The name "Eurofurence" has long since come to represent a European gathering point where creatives and interested individuals from across the continent come together.

Since 2023, Eurofurence has been held at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), right in the heart of the city. Hamburg provides the perfect setting for this special event, thanks to its open-minded atmosphere and excellent transport connections. Each year, the modern convention center is transformed into an international hub of furry culture.

Organized by the non-profit Eurofurence e.V., the convention presents a diverse program centered on artistic expression. Highlights include a major art show featuring auctions and LED animations, the extensively designed con book, and the Artist Alley, where individual works and commissions can be traded directly. Here, artists have the opportunity to showcase their creativity to an enthusiastic audience.

A distinctive feature of Eurofurence is the highest concentration of so-called fursuits in Europe—elaborately crafted animal costumes that can be admired on stage, at photo shoots, during parades, or in the popular "Catch-'Em-All" badge game. The program is rounded out by shows, music, DJ sets, dance competitions, and open-stage acts that further develop the event's sci-fi theme. Panels, workshops, and talks explore not only artistic but also technical and social aspects of furry culture—from drawing techniques and storytelling to fursuit construction and puppetry.

The economic aspect is also well represented: With over 200 vendor tables in the Dealers' Den, official convention stores, and the Artist Alley, attendees can find exclusive artworks, unique accessories, and fan merchandise often available only at the event. Social engagement is another key part of the convention: Through charity events, auctions, and raffles, different non-profit organizations are supported every year.

Exhibitors and visitors come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including freelance artists, creatives, hobbyists, craftspeople, scientists, IT professionals, and those with a general interest in culture. What unites them all is their fascination with anthropomorphic characters and their shared enthusiasm for shaping this unique community.
