FEMUR (Feria Internacional de la Mujer Rural) is an annual trade fair dedicated to promoting the visibility, professionalization, and networking of women in rural areas. The name FEMUR, derived from the organizing body Federación Española de la Mujer Rural, stands for empowerment, innovation, and active solidarity among women entrepreneurs. With its distinctive profile, the fair specifically targets craftswomen, founders, farmers, and rural businesswomen from around the world, who gather at the Plaza Mayor in Segovia to showcase their products, services, and traditions.
Once a year, Segovia becomes an international hub for female entrepreneurship, ecological production, and artisanal quality. Organized by the Spanish women’s organization FEMUR, the event offers a platform that goes far beyond a conventional marketplace. Women from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas come together here for exchange, workshops, live demonstrations, and intercultural networking.
The main focus is on recognizing and marketing the achievements of women in rural communities. Handcrafted and regional goods are presented from the fields of food, arts and crafts, textiles, natural cosmetics, and agriculture—predominantly produced ecologically and often certified by origin. The fair enables exhibitors to further develop their businesses, access new markets, and forge valuable partnerships. Additional key topics include sustainability, gender equality, violence prevention, and poverty reduction. Professional forums and training sessions address current social challenges and provide practical solutions for greater self-determination and participation.
Most exhibitors come from the sectors of agriculture, crafts, tourism, services, and food processing. The audience primarily consists of businesswomen, representatives of institutions, NGOs, professionals, and consumers from rural areas.
The venue, the historic Plaza Mayor of Segovia, provides a unique setting for this celebration of female creativity and collaboration. With its excellent transport connections to Madrid and other Spanish cities, Segovia is easy to reach, making the fair attractive to both national and international guests. FEMUR thus sees itself not merely as a trade fair, but as a driving force for the future of rural areas and a vivid example of the power of collective action by women worldwide.
Visitors and exhibitors meet for the eighteenth time on the FEMUR on 3 days from Fri., 12.09.2025 to Sun., 14.09.2025 in Segovia.
