Health Day” is a public-facing health fair and information event organised by Süddeutsche Zeitung GmbH. It takes place at the Süddeutscher Verlag’s SZ high-rise building at Hultschiner Straße 8 in Munich. The event combines a health exhibition with an extensive programme of talks and discussions. Visitors can learn about healthcare services and the latest developments in medicine, attend presentations by medical specialists and then put their own questions directly to the experts.

Health Day covers a broad spectrum of modern medicine and preventive healthcare. Key topics include orthopaedics and joint medicine, encompassing knee, hip, shoulder and foot surgery, joint replacement, robotic-assisted joint surgery, cartilage repair and scoliosis treatment. Other areas of focus include cardiology and women’s health, with particular attention to sex-specific aspects of cardiovascular medicine, as well as neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Depression and modern approaches to treatment and prevention are also addressed. In addition, the event covers sleep medicine, including healthy sleep, cognitive performance and the treatment of snoring and sleep apnoea. Further topics include modern and digital dentistry, dental prosthetics, integrative medicine, naturopathy, oncology, physiotherapy, exercise and prevention, as well as nutrition, biohacking and longevity. In this way, the event brings established medical disciplines together with current developments in preventive healthcare, quality of life and innovative treatments.

Exhibitors are drawn primarily from the healthcare and medical sectors, including hospitals, medical centres, medical and dental practices, therapy providers and healthcare companies. They showcase healthcare products and services alongside diagnostic, treatment and prevention concepts. The exhibition is complemented by specialist talks in which doctors explain medical procedures and current developments in an accessible way.

Rather than being aimed exclusively at healthcare professionals, the event is primarily intended for health-conscious members of the public and readers of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. It gives visitors the opportunity to obtain clear, first-hand information about medical conditions, preventive healthcare, treatment options and medical innovations. Direct interaction between medical specialists and the public is therefore a defining feature of the event.

One of the programme highlights is a panel discussion on xenotransplantation – the transplantation of animal organs, tissues or cells into humans. The panel brings together specialists in transplant medicine, science and medical ethics, including experts from LMU Munich’s Transplant Centre and the Gene Center Munich. Other highlights address topics such as robotic-assisted knee replacement, modern cartilage repair techniques, nutrition, biohacking and longevity. The programme therefore combines subjects with immediate practical relevance for visitors with forward-looking developments in medicine and healthcare.

The event has a strong regional connection to Munich and Bavaria, with many of the speakers and participating medical institutions based in Munich and the surrounding region. These include hospitals, orthopaedic centres, specialist practices and academic institutions such as LMU Munich and the Technical University of Munich. At the same time, the Süddeutsche Zeitung’s profile as a nationally recognised media organisation enables the event to reach audiences beyond Munich and Bavaria.

By combining free access to medical expertise, practical healthcare services, innovative treatments and direct interaction with specialists, Health Day provides a concise overview of key issues in modern healthcare. Complex medical topics are presented in a clear, accessible and practical way for a broad audience. As a major centre for medicine, science and research, Munich provides an appropriate setting for an event that brings established medical practice together with emerging and future developments. The Süddeutscher Verlag’s SZ high-rise building also provides a distinctive venue away from a conventional exhibition centre and, according to the organiser, is easily accessible by public transport.
