IFAT Eurasia is an international trade fair for environmental technologies, held biennially since its launch in 2015. It has developed into a key platform for sustainable solutions across the Eurasian region. The name "IFAT"—originally an acronym for "Internationale Fachmesse für Abwassertechnik" (International Trade Fair for Wastewater Technology)—now represents a wide spectrum of environmental technologies. The event is organized by Messe München in cooperation with EKO MMI Fuarcılık Ltd. Şti. Both organizations contribute their extensive experience and networks to deliver a high-quality event.
The venue is the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul, known for its modern infrastructure and excellent transport links. The trade fair is typically held in the spring, usually in March or April.
Against the backdrop of a growing population, increasing industrialization, water scarcity, rising volumes of waste, and stricter environmental regulations, IFAT Eurasia offers targeted solutions to some of the region's most pressing challenges. It brings together international suppliers, developers, and decision-makers to jointly develop strategies for sustainable environmental management. Topics covered include water and wastewater management, waste and recycling technologies, air pollution control, soil remediation, emission reduction, as well as digitization, automation, and climate protection.
International exhibitors showcase a wide range of offerings—from traditional plant engineering to digital system solutions. Among the highlights are technologies for water purification, wastewater treatment, waste separation, and energy recovery from waste, along with street cleaning equipment and measurement and control systems. These are complemented by services in occupational safety, risk management, and technological research. A distinctive feature of the fair is its hands-on formats such as workshops, panel discussions, and networking events, which foster knowledge exchange and the initiation of business relationships.
IFAT Eurasia primarily targets professionals from municipal services, industry, construction, waste management, water and wastewater engineering, and research and development. It offers up-to-date market overviews, insights into technological innovations, and access to an international expert network. As part of the global IFAT trade fair network—with events in Munich, India, China, Brazil, and Africa—it facilitates high-level international knowledge transfer.
Istanbul as the host city highlights the strategic importance of the event. The city serves as a bridge between Europe and Asia, a commercial hub, and an urban area with a strong demand for modern environmental solutions. The Tüyap Exhibition Center, located in western Istanbul, is easily accessible by car, public transport, and from the airport. As such, IFAT Eurasia is not only a central meeting point for industry professionals but also a gateway to a forward-looking market.
On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 3 days of the fair, from 27. April to 29. April 2023, about 203 exhibitors and 8764 visitors on the IFAT Eurasia in Istanbul.
The IFAT Eurasia takes place biennially, and therefore for the 7th time previsibly in May 2027 in Istanbul.
