The Medical Studies Information Day – IMed for short – is a nationally established education fair specifically aimed at high school graduates who aspire to become doctors. Held annually, this specialized event offers reliable guidance, personalized advice, and practical insights into the application process and study opportunities in the field of human medicine. The Berlin edition of IMed traditionally takes place at the historic Henry Ford Building of Freie Universität Berlin – a centrally located venue that is easy to reach.
The fair is organized by planZ Studienberatung, an independent advisory institution with many years of experience supporting prospective medical students. IMed primarily targets upper-level secondary school students, their parents, and teachers. However, career changers, university transfer students, and anyone interested in studying medicine in Germany or abroad will also find valuable information here.
The event places a special emphasis on gaining admission to medical school. Visitors can expect a diverse program of presentations covering topics such as university selection procedures (AdH), the Test for Medical Studies (TMS), and the HAM-Nat. In addition to public universities, private institutions like MSH Medical School Hamburg and MSB Berlin are also showcased. Experts further provide information on German-language medical programs abroad – for example, in Croatia or Hungary – as well as alternative pathways into medical school, such as through a career in the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).
A key feature of the fair is the opportunity for personal interaction – with representatives from a wide range of educational institutions and with specialists in student financing, including those who can explain funding models like the “reverse generation contract.” Topics such as transferring between universities and non-traditional entry into medical studies are also addressed through one-on-one counseling sessions, which are particularly relevant for students in advanced semesters.
Exhibitors represent a broad spectrum, including public and private universities, international institutions, career-focused organizations with a medical orientation, and independent advisory services. IMed is part of a nationwide event series held annually in major cities across Germany, with a focus on regional characteristics – in Berlin, for instance, through strong connections to the city’s medical universities, political institutions, and top-tier healthcare centers.
Whether you're just starting to explore your options, need help making a decision, or are preparing specifically for the selection process, IMed offers a concise and practice-oriented overview of all paths into medical studies. The Henry Ford Building in Berlin's southwest is easily accessible by both public transportation and car. For anyone aiming to fulfill their dream of studying medicine, this event is the perfect starting point.
