The International Energy Week (IEW) is one of the most significant trade fairs and conferences in the global energy industry. Held biennially at the modern Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in the Malaysian state of Sarawak, the event has, since its inception in 2009, established itself as a key meeting point for professionals from the energy, electricity, oil, and gas sectors. It is organized by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty) in collaboration with Informa Markets Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a seasoned organizer of international trade exhibitions.
IEW is more than just a conventional trade fair—it serves as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and investment. At its core is the promotion of sustainable energy solutions, with the ambition of positioning Sarawak as a driving force in the global energy transition. Policymakers, industry leaders, and technical experts come together to work toward a low-carbon, resilient, and technologically advanced energy future.
A key focus of the event is the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), a development initiative aimed at transforming the region’s economy through the expansion of renewable energy—particularly hydropower. Leveraging Sarawak’s abundant water resources, the program seeks not only to stimulate economic growth but also to establish the region as a hub for green energy in Southeast Asia.
The event offers a strong content-driven program centered on critical future-oriented topics such as renewable energy, grid modernization, energy efficiency, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence to accelerate the energy transition. Additional themes include policy strategies for achieving net-zero emissions in the ASEAN region, the role of public-private partnerships, and the integration of renewable sources into existing energy infrastructures.
IEW provides a high-quality platform for showcasing new technologies, innovative products and services, and promising investment opportunities. This is complemented by a diverse supporting program of workshops, expert seminars, and presentations by leading industry figures, all fostering dialogue between science, industry, and government.
With its clear focus on industry professionals, IEW delivers in-depth content and enables targeted networking between international experts, companies, and decision-makers. The BCCK in Kuching offers the ideal setting, with spacious exhibition areas, state-of-the-art conference facilities, and a central location on the island of Borneo.
International Energy Week is not only a reflection of current trends in the energy sector but also a key platform for all those committed to actively shaping the global energy future—practical, relevant, and forward-looking.
The International Energy Week IEW will take place on 3 days from Tuesday, 15. July to Thursday, 17. July 2025 in Kuching.
