JuBi Dortmund

The Youth Education Fair, known as “JuBi”, is Germany’s largest specialized fair for stays abroad and takes place once a year at the Leibniz-Gymnasium in Dortmund. The name “JuBi” stands for “JugendBildungsmesse” (Youth Education Fair) and perfectly captures the event’s purpose: to serve as a central hub for young people seeking comprehensive, in-person information about international education and exchange programs.

The fair is organized by Weltweiser, an independent, non-profit organization based in Selm-Cappenberg that has been dedicated to educational guidance for many years. Weltweiser hosts similar events across Germany, with Dortmund being one of the most well-established locations.

At the heart of JuBi Dortmund is personal interaction: young attendees can connect with education experts, counselors, and representatives from organizations offering programs such as student exchanges, language travel, work & travel, au pair stays, volunteer services, internships abroad, and international degree programs. The focus is not just on the idea of going abroad, but on concrete pathways to make it happen—whether through a school year, internship, university studies, or a gap year after graduation.

A major highlight of the fair is the opportunity for one-on-one consultations with experts and former participants who offer practical insights and support in the decision-making process. Financial topics, such as scholarships and international student aid (like Auslands-BAföG), are also addressed with professional expertise.

JuBi primarily targets high school students, recent graduates, university students, and young adults. However, parents, teachers, and other education-minded individuals are also warmly welcome. Exhibitors come from a wide range of backgrounds, including educational institutions, language travel providers, non-profit organizations, and international placement agencies. JuBi is part of a nationwide fair concept that is held annually at various locations. The Dortmund venue plays a special role—not least due to its central position in the Ruhr area and the long-standing cooperation with the esteemed Leibniz-Gymnasium. Located in the Hacheney district near the Rombergpark, the school is easily accessible by public transport and car. Parking is available nearby, and the fair can be reached quickly from Dortmund’s main train station.
