KIT-Karrieremesse Karlsruhe

Since its launch in 2013, the KIT Career Fair has been the flagship open-air recruitment event of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Each May, the Forum in front of the Audimax on the South Campus becomes a hub for career planning, recruitment and professional networking – open to all, free of charge and with no registration required.

As organiser, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology brings together students, doctoral researchers, graduates and alumni with employers face to face. Around 180 companies and organisations from a wide range of sectors present themselves in a relaxed, open-air setting at the heart of the campus. The fair is more than a conventional recruitment platform; it is a strategically designed careers event. Visitors gain targeted insights into professional roles, entry routes and sector-specific career paths – from internships and working student positions to thesis projects, graduate trainee schemes and direct entry roles.

Personal interaction is at the core of the event. Rather than relying on anonymous online application portals, the KIT Career Fair enables direct conversations with HR professionals, subject specialists and decision-makers. The KIT Career Service complements the exhibition with professional CV reviews, one-to-one guidance on application documents, and practical short talks covering application procedures, interviews, job search strategies, student funding and scholarship opportunities. The result is tangible support for the next step in participants’ careers.

Exhibitors represent fields including engineering, IT and digital technologies, energy and environmental engineering, mobility, consulting, finance, research, public institutions, and industrial and technology companies. The visitor profile is equally diverse, with particular interest from students in engineering, natural sciences, economics and computer science who attend to build purposeful connections within their chosen industries. A colour-coded guidance system organised by academic discipline makes navigation straightforward and helps visitors plan their time efficiently.

A defining feature of the event is its distinctive open-air setting directly in front of the Audimax on the South Campus, combining networking, information exchange and career planning in an open and communicative environment.

The venue – the Forum in front of the Audimax at KIT’s South Campus – is centrally located in Karlsruhe and easily accessible by public transport, bicycle or on foot. Tram and bus stops are close by, and Karlsruhe Central Station is just minutes away. In this way, the KIT Career Fair brings together academic excellence, regional industry and practical career opportunities at one of Germany’s leading centres of science and technology – compact, accessible and a firm fixture in the calendar each May for ambitious early-career professionals.
