The MEMS SENSING & NETWORK SYSTEM in Tokyo is a leading trade fair focusing on the latest developments and innovations in sensor and network technology. It is an annual event organized by JTB Communication Design, Inc., in collaboration with the Micromachine Center and the NMEMS Technology Research Organization.
"MEMS" stands for "Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems." These systems are microscopic devices that integrate mechanical and electrical components on a microscopic scale. They are widely used in various fields, such as sensor technology, actuators, medical technology, and consumer electronics. MEMS technologies enable the development of very small, yet powerful devices.
This fair serves as a central platform for presenting key technologies for next-generation sensors. The main themes of the fair include organic materials, electronic, magnetic, metallic, and inorganic materials, nanomaterials such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and nanoparticles. Also exhibited are resins and additives, films and foils, coating materials, and other functional materials.
Another focus is on manufacturing technology, including microfabrication for front-end and back-end processes, etching techniques, deposition, lithography, assembly, and packaging. The fair also showcases advanced evaluation, measurement, and analysis tools, as well as technologies like nanoimprinting, printed electronics, 3D printing, and minimal-fab techniques. Current developments in actuators, sensor modules, energy harvesting, micro power sources, and resonators are also presented.
Applications of these technologies range from the environment and energy to healthcare and medicine, smart life and smart community, to biosciences, sports, information and telecommunications equipment, automotive industry, aerospace, food and agriculture, robotics, green sensor networks, and road infrastructure monitoring systems.
Additional services and business models, such as prototyping manufacturing services, MEMS foundries, evaluation and measurement/analysis services, nano and micro research, and pilot manufacturing are also showcased. Research and development institutions and universities participate in the fair to share their latest findings.
The fair takes place at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan's largest exhibition complex, offering an ideal platform for international networking and business opportunities, complemented by a variety of synergies with parallel industry-related trade fairs.
Overall, the MEMS SENSING & NETWORK SYSTEM fair in Tokyo represents a significant event that brings together key players from industry, research, and development, serving as a showcase for the latest trends and innovations in sensor and network technology.
The MEMS SENSING & NETWORK SYSTEM in Tokyo took place from Wednesday, 29. January to Friday, 31. January 2025.
