MOTION ENGINEERING JAPAN is a highly specialised trade exhibition dedicated to drive, motion and control technologies, and is recognised as one of Japan’s leading industry events in this field. Serving as a platform for innovative core technologies and forward-looking applications, it brings together manufacturers, developers and end users from a wide range of industrial sectors.
The exhibition is held annually during the summer at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo’s renowned international exhibition venue. It is organised by the Japan Management Association (JMA), one of Japan’s foremost business and management organisations. For decades, the JMA has been responsible for staging major trade fairs and conferences, playing a significant role in promoting technological innovation and fostering connections between domestic and international companies.
The focus of MOTION ENGINEERING JAPAN is on technologies related to motion, drive systems and control engineering. Exhibits include actuator systems, drive and power transmission mechanisms, mechanical components and materials, control systems, motion sensors, measurement and testing equipment, as well as complete motion units for industrial applications. The exhibition also showcases solutions designed to automate and enhance the efficiency of industrial machinery, robots, electrical and electronic equipment, manufacturing facilities, and material handling and transport systems. As a result, visitors gain a comprehensive overview of the latest developments and emerging trends in the field of motion engineering.
One of the event’s distinguishing features is its integration within TECHNO-FRONTIER, one of Japan’s most important technology platforms for industrial innovation. This association provides exhibitors and visitors with access to a broader range of technologies and valuable synergies with related sectors. The exhibition offers an ideal environment for professional exchange, business networking and the development of collaborative projects. Key highlights include expert presentations, product launches and demonstrations of innovative technologies and engineering solutions. Particular emphasis is placed on practical applications and technological advances that address the growing demands of modern manufacturing and automation processes.
Exhibitors primarily represent sectors such as mechanical engineering, robotics, industrial automation, sensor technology, measurement technology, drive systems, electronics, materials technology and industrial systems integration. The exhibition is aimed in particular at engineers, designers, researchers, product developers, technical procurement specialists, production managers, senior executives and decision-makers from manufacturing companies, research institutions and technology centres. They attend to stay informed about the latest industry developments, meet business partners and identify solutions to specific technical challenges.
MOTION ENGINEERING JAPAN also highlights Japan’s position as a global leader in automation, robotics and precision engineering. The Tokyo metropolitan area, in particular, is recognised as a major hub for high technology and industrial research, providing an ideal setting for international business cooperation and technology transfer.
The event takes place at the impressive Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre in Odaiba, a modern man-made island in Tokyo Bay. As Japan’s largest exhibition and convention venue, it is renowned for its distinctive architecture and offers excellent facilities, including restaurants, retail outlets and a wide range of visitor services. Thanks to its outstanding public transport connections and convenient access by rail, bus and road, the venue is easily reached from across the city. With its striking views of the Tokyo skyline, Tokyo Big Sight provides a fitting backdrop for an international technology exhibition such as MOTION ENGINEERING JAPAN.
The MOTION ENGINEERING JAPAN will take place on 3 days from Wednesday, 15. July to Friday, 17. July 2026 in Tokyo.
