The Port of Toamasina, also known as Tamatave Port, is the largest and most important port in the country. Located on the east coast of Madagascar with access to the Indian Ocean, it serves as the country's main hub for international trade. The port handles about 80% of Madagascar's maritime trade and plays a central role in the country's economy.
