Maker Faire Solothurn, held in Derendingen, is Switzerland's largest family-friendly DIY and innovation festival.
Organized by Enter Technikwelt, the fair is aimed at a broad audience, including technology enthusiasts, creative professionals, families, schoolchildren, students, teachers, researchers, and companies. The focus is on a national audience, but international visitors are also welcome.
The event showcases a broad range of topics such as 3D printing, laser cutting, augmented reality, Arduino, Calliope, Raspberry Pi, assistive technologies, biohacking, coding, cosplay, crafting, education, electronics, mobility, woodworking, hardware hacking, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, LEGO, model building, music, sustainability, drones, rapid prototyping, robotics, smart cities/smart homes, steampunk, upcycling, virtual reality, wearables, and science and research.
Maker Faire Solothurn takes place at Enter Technikwelt Solothurn, a technology museum with over 10,000 square meters of exhibition space, housing one of Europe’s largest collections of working computers and communication technology. The venue is easily accessible: from Solothurn's main train station, bus lines 5 (toward Subingen, Dorf) and 7 (toward Herzogenbuchsee, Bahnhof) take visitors to the Derendingen Freiheit stop, just a five-minute walk from the venue. For those arriving by car, free parking is available on the rooftop and at nearby businesses, with a parking service on site.
The Maker Faire Solothurn features an extensive program of interactive workshops, inspiring talks, and fascinating experiments—inviting visitors of all ages to join in, explore, and be amazed.
