The “Nadelkunst und Gartenliebe” fair in Weikersheim is a unique public event held every two years in September since 2015—when the baroque Weikersheim Palace and its magnificent gardens shine in the late summer light at their most beautiful. The fair is organized by Weikersheim Palace and Gardens, part of the state institution “Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten Baden-Württemberg,” which stands for the harmonious interplay of culture, history, and nature.
What makes the fair truly special is its inspiring combination of textile craftsmanship and garden culture—an approach that is one of a kind in Germany. Two thematic worlds merge into a single creative experience: the fine art of needlework meets the diversity of garden design, all set within one of the most significant baroque palace gardens in southern Germany. The venue itself is part of the experience: originally built in the 12th century as a moated castle, Weikersheim Palace today presents an architectural ensemble blending Renaissance and Baroque elements. The palace garden impresses with its strict geometric design, life-sized statues representing planets and continents, and a chestnut avenue glowing in golden yellow.
The fair appeals to anyone passionate about high-quality textile art and creative gardening. Visitors can explore a wide range of products, services, and expertise—from fine yarns, intricate quilts, and embroidery materials to rare plants, handmade garden décor, herbs, outdoor furniture, and accessories. But the focus is not solely on shopping: artists and artisans share insights into their techniques, offer personal consultations, and bring craftsmanship to life. Experienced gardeners and plant specialists are also on hand to provide practical advice and expert tips.
A diverse supporting program enriches the experience, featuring live demonstrations, workshops, guided tours through the baroque garden, and curated exhibitions that offer inspiration and learning opportunities. Starting in 2025, the event will highlight its expanded scope with the updated title “Nadelkunst und Gartenliebe.” The garden section will be further developed with a focus on plant diversity, garden design, aromatic herbs, and practical ideas for home gardens.
Blending historic atmosphere, artisanal quality, and a love of gardening, “Nadelkunst und Gartenliebe” offers a distinctive experience for creatives, connoisseurs, and nature enthusiasts alike.
The Nadelkunst und Gartenliebe takes place for the 5th time on 3 days from Fri., 26.09.2025 to Sun., 28.09.2025 in Weikersheim.
