ORTE Career Fair Freiberg

The ORTE Career Fair has been a well-established fixture in Saxony for many years, serving as a central hub for career orientation and planning. Closely linked to TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the name "ORTE" symbolizes the many pathways where careers can begin – whether through an internship, a degree program, direct entry into the workforce, or a trainee program.

Held twice a year – in January and June – the Ulrich-Rülein-von-Calw sports hall in Freiberg transforms into a meeting point for students, graduates, school pupils, and early-career professionals. Organized by the Career Center of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the fair is tailored to the needs of young talent and benefits from a broad network spanning industry, academia, and the professional world.

The focus lies on opportunities in engineering, business, natural sciences, and computer science. Participants gain practical insights into entry-level opportunities with both regional and national employers – ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to international corporations. The fair also features personalized career advice, a free application portfolio check, professional application photos, as well as workshops and short talks on current topics such as job applications, self-presentation, and career entry.

A distinctive feature of ORTE is its strong connection to the Freiberg region and the Free State of Saxony. The fair fosters connections between universities, regional businesses, and globally operating employers – actively contributing to the region’s economic development. A dedicated job wall on-site offers direct access to job openings, internships, and thesis project opportunities.

Exhibitors represent a wide range of industries, including mechanical engineering, resource management, energy, IT, environmental technology, consulting, and public institutions. While the focus is on STEM subjects, the fair also explicitly welcomes attendees from business and social science backgrounds.

Thanks to its convenient location – directly on the university campus and close to the main highway – the venue is easily accessible, whether on foot from Freiberg train station, by car, or via public transportation. Ample parking is available for drivers.
