Something Blue – Hochzeitsmesse Hamburg

Something Blue is a consumer wedding fair dedicated to personalised wedding planning, creative design and a carefully selected range of services for the big day. Its name draws on the well-known English wedding tradition, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, in which the colour blue traditionally symbolises fidelity and constancy. “Something Blue” is therefore not an abbreviation, but a symbolic name with a direct connection to weddings.

The wedding fair takes place at Speicher am Kaufhauskanal in Hamburg-Harburg. It is organised by Hamburg-based wedding and event planner Sabina Baotic Marinkovic of Sabina Marinkovic Weddings & Events, who also works with Glamelia Atelier to provide floristry, décor and event design services. The fair focuses on personal consultations, individually designed themed settings and direct interaction with a carefully selected group of wedding professionals. This sets it apart from conventional trade fair formats dominated by rows of closely packed exhibition stands.

The fair covers a broad range of wedding-related areas, including planning and inspiration, bridalwear, floristry, décor, event design, photography, stationery, jewellery, music and entertainment. These include bridal gowns and bespoke designs, wedding rings and jewellery, floral arrangements, décor concepts, wedding photography, stationery, music and event planning services. Something Blue is aimed primarily at engaged couples and other members of the public planning a wedding who want to meet suitable suppliers, gather ideas and compare different services and options.

The programme includes workshops, a fashion show and the Something Blue prize draw, featuring prizes provided by participating exhibitors. The fair also offers plenty of opportunities for one-to-one conversations. A dedicated lounge gives visitors the chance to reflect on what they have seen and talk to suppliers in a relaxed setting. In this way, the event brings together showcases, professional advice, inspiration and entertainment.

Speicher am Kaufhauskanal is situated in Harburg’s inland harbour and is regarded as Hamburg’s oldest surviving historic warehouse. Dating from 1827, the half-timbered building is now used as a cultural and events venue and is also available for weddings. The venue itself therefore provides an example of how a wedding celebration can be staged in a distinctive historic setting.
