The Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) is far more than a traditional trade fair. It is regarded as a national event with international appeal and has continuously reflected Greece’s economic, cultural, and technological development since its inception in 1926. Held every September at the modern Helexpo – Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre, the fair takes place in the heart of Thessaloniki, a vibrant and dynamic metropolis.
The TIF is organized by Helexpo SA, Greece’s leading trade fair organizer. With decades of experience and a strong spirit of innovation, the company has successfully established the event as both a business platform and a cultural highlight. For nearly a century, the fair has brought together companies, institutions, researchers, start-ups, regions, and consumers from Greece and abroad—offering a unique blend of information, networking, and entertainment.
At its core, the fair features clearly defined thematic areas that address current social and economic developments. It provides a stage for education, research, innovation, technology, energy, and the circular economy, as well as for start-up initiatives, regional products, international partnerships, and offerings from the gastronomy, furniture, and household sectors, public services, mobility, leisure, music, and live culture. Events like the “Youth Band Battle” particularly resonate with younger audiences, creating memorable cultural experiences with a festival-like atmosphere.
Exhibitors from a wide range of industries are represented at the TIF, including manufacturing, commerce, education, energy, agriculture, tourism, and the public sector. The diversity of exhibits spans digital innovations, sustainable energy solutions, culinary specialties, and regional goods. This thematic variety attracts both professionals from business, research, and government, as well as a broad public interested in trends, lifestyle, and entertainment.
One of the fair’s unique features is its close connection to Greek society. It serves not only as an economic platform but also as an important forum for political communication. Traditionally, the Greek government uses the event to present its economic and social policy agenda to the public. In this way, the TIF functions as a key interface between politics, the economy, and the people.
As a leading trade fair, the TIF draws thousands of visitors from across Greece and around the world to Thessaloniki every year. The city itself, Greece’s second-largest urban center, is a lively cultural hub with a rich history, scenic sea views, and excellent infrastructure.
The exhibition center is centrally located, easily accessible, and well equipped with modern halls and spacious outdoor areas—ideal for large-scale events. International visitors can reach Thessaloniki conveniently by air, train, or highway; the “Makedonia” airport is just a few kilometers from the venue.
The Thessaloniki International Fair is therefore more than just an exhibition—it is an institution that bridges business, culture, and innovation, transforming Thessaloniki each year into a vibrant meeting point for international exchange.
The Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) takes place annually, and therefore for the ninetieth time previsibly in September 2026 in Thessaloniki.
