The Warsaw International Book Fair is an international book fair that, since its inception in 2010, has become one of Europe’s most prominent literary events. It serves as a vibrant meeting place for book lovers, industry professionals and publishers from around the world. The event is organised by the Polish foundation Fundacja Historia i Kultura, which is deeply committed to cultural education and the promotion of literary exchange.
The fair is distinguished by its thematic breadth and intellectual depth. At its core are book launches, readings, panel discussions, author talks and a wide range of cultural events, all curated around changing annual themes. For example, the fair has spotlighted Korean literature and culture—with the Republic of Korea as guest of honour—as well as hosting the “Ukrainian Book Salon”, which fosters dialogue between the Ukrainian and Polish literary scenes. Other highlights include features on Italian literature, the “Free Belarus” forum showcasing independent Belarusian publishers, academic publications presented במסגרת the ACADEMIA competition, and the City of Warsaw’s themed pavilion under the motto “All About Love and Care”. There is also a rich programme for younger readers, designed to introduce literature in an engaging and accessible way.
The offering spans books of all genres, academic works, children’s and young adult literature, comics, audiobooks, digital media and publishing services. The fair acts as a central hub for authors, publishers, booksellers, translators, librarians, educators and literary critics. Direct engagement with readers is equally important—an aspect that makes the event appealing both to trade visitors and the general public.
As a firmly established fixture in Warsaw’s cultural calendar, the fair not only supports the local and national book market but also reflects Poland’s identity as a nation deeply invested in literature. Its venue provides not only an architecturally striking backdrop but also a central location with excellent public transport links and nearby accommodation.
The Warsaw International Book Fair is an annual cultural highlight in the Polish capital which, through its international outlook, rich content and open, inspiring atmosphere, attracts both professionals and literary enthusiasts alike. A visit offers more than just books—it opens a window onto Europe’s cultural diversity, right in the heart of Warsaw.
The Warsaw International Book Fair will take place on 4 days from Thursday, 28. May to Sunday, 31. May 2026 in Warsaw.
