The vocatium is an annual trade fair dedicated to career and educational orientation, held at Messe Dresden. It offers young people a focused platform for planning their professional futures. The name “vocatium” is derived from the Latin word for “vocation”, reflecting the core mission of the event: to help young individuals discover their personal career paths.

The fair is organized by IfT Institut für Talententwicklung GmbH, a nationwide specialist in personalized career guidance and continuing education. The institute developed the concept of scheduled advisory meetings with exhibitors, which now forms the centerpiece of the vocatium format.

vocatium Dresden is far more than a traditional career fair. It is part of a nationwide network with over 80 locations across Germany, all committed to structured, personalized, and goal-oriented career orientation. In cooperation with schools, participants are carefully prepared for their visit and engage in pre-arranged conversations with representatives from business, academia, and public institutions. This targeted approach ensures both high efficiency and long-term impact.

The fair offers a wide range of content—from apprenticeships and study programs to voluntary services and opportunities abroad, as well as application training and career prospects, especially in STEM fields. The STEM Forum is specifically tailored to young people interested in science and technology. Individual coaching on resumes and career development is also part of the program.

A standout feature of the fair is the so-called "speed dating" format—brief, intensive meetings between young attendees and potential employers or educational institutions. The program is further enriched by presentations, workshops, and information booths that support practical orientation and personal development.
