Atlantic City in the federal state of New Jersey covers an area of around 45 km² and is home to about 40.000 inhabitants. It is one of the favourite and most visited short trip destinations for tourists from New York. In May 1997 the Atlantic City Convention Centre was opened. It presents a wide range of interesting and popular events: shows, conferences, fairs and conventions. As the architecture of the complex reflects and integrates the position of the city at the coast of the Atlantic, the Atlantic City Convention Centre won the coveted "Award of Excellence in Architectural Design" from Pennsylvania-Society of Architects. It is the biggest and most expensive public project in the city’s history and was build under the patronage of New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. On the first floor of the Convention Centre there is a big parking lot with 1.000 parking spaces, furthermore there are a lot of public parking spaces and car parks in the direct neighbourhood. In addition to exhibition halls the centre offers numerous meeting rooms, from training classrooms, conference rooms and banquet halls up to renting the theatre.
