#beWhatever Frankenberg

#beWhatever is a regional careers, education and training fair with a strong hands-on focus, held once a year at Martin Luther Grammar School since 2017. The aim of the event is to offer young people from Frankenberg (Saxony) and the surrounding area realistic, tangible and individual perspectives for their professional futures—away from anonymous exhibition centres and standardised information stands.

The fair is organised by the Frankenberg (Saxony) Educational Association (registered charity). Working closely with teachers, pupils from the school and a large number of volunteers, the organisers create a personal, unhurried atmosphere that encourages meaningful exchange. #beWhatever is primarily aimed at pupils, school leavers, young adults, parents, and those interested in vocational training or higher education from the Central Saxony region and beyond. A key focus is its strong regional orientation: by deliberately involving local companies, institutions and education providers, the fair highlights concrete career opportunities close to home, particularly in rural areas.

In terms of content, the fair offers an exceptionally broad range of career pathways. These include traditional skilled trades, industrial and commercial professions, IT and technical fields, as well as roles in healthcare and social care, and careers in social, creative and public-sector-related fields. The programme is complemented by universities and advisory services providing information on degree courses, dual study programmes, voluntary services and alternative educational routes. Rather than showcasing products, the focus is on concrete opportunities such as apprenticeships, degree programmes, internships, dual programmes and direct entry routes into a wide variety of sectors.

A defining feature of #beWhatever is its consistent hands-on approach. Visitors can try out different professions in practice, handle tools, carry out experiments, complete small tasks and speak directly with trainers, students and industry professionals.

Martin Luther Grammar School provides ideal conditions as a venue, with its central location, manageable size and welcoming atmosphere that supports personal conversations. Frankenberg is easily accessible by road and rail, enabling visitors from the surrounding area to attend with ease—and perhaps take their first concrete step towards their future career right here.
