China Composites Expo Shanghai

The China Composites Expo is the leading international trade fair for composite materials in Asia. Held annually in September at the modern National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai – one of the largest and most accessible exhibition venues in China – the event is organized by the China Composites Group Corporation Ltd. and Beijing Zhongshenglian Exhibition Technology Co., Ltd., two organizations with extensive expertise in the composites industry.

The expo covers the entire value chain of the composites sector – from raw materials and processing technologies to specialized end products. It is exclusively geared toward trade visitors and brings together thousands of experts, engineers, decision-makers, and developers from forward-looking industries such as wind energy, automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, infrastructure, hydrogen technology, sports, and electrical engineering.

A wide range of reinforcement fibers is on display, including glass, carbon, aramid, and basalt fibers, along with their textile preforms. The exhibition is complemented by an extensive portfolio of matrix systems and resins – from unsaturated polyester and epoxy resins to vinyl ester and bio-based alternatives. The spectrum is rounded out by additives, fillers, and processing chemicals essential for the performance of modern composites.

A key feature of the expo is the live demonstration of advanced manufacturing and processing technologies, such as Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), prepreg production, filament winding, pultrusion, Automated Tape Laying (ATL) and Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), as well as injection molding techniques for long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics. In addition, many exhibitors showcase solutions for downstream processing, including CNC machining centers, waterjet cutters, and milling technologies specifically developed for high-performance composite materials.

The China Composites Expo is not only a showcase for technology but also a marketplace for current applications. One of the focal points is the wind energy sector, in which China is a global leader. The trend toward increasingly large and efficient rotor blades is among the key drivers of innovation. Lightweight construction solutions for electric mobility, structural components in aerospace, pressure vessels for hydrogen and natural gas, composite solutions in shipbuilding, and reinforcement systems for infrastructure repair are also of high relevance.

Sustainability and recycling are gaining importance as strategic fields for the future. Research institutions and universities present the latest studies and methods for recycling carbon and glass fiber-reinforced composites, as well as innovative bio-based materials and concepts for closed-loop material cycles.

With its strong focus on practical applications, technological depth, and exceptionally broad thematic scope, the China Composites Expo has become an essential meeting point for the global composites industry. This year the China Composites Expo takes place on 3 days from Tue., 16.09.2025 to Thur., 18.09.2025 in Shanghai already for the 30th time.
