LWH – the Stuttgart Agricultural Fair (Landwirtschaftliches Hauptfest Stuttgart) – is Southern Germany’s largest trade fair for the agricultural, forestry and food industries, as well as a diverse information and experience-focused event for consumers and families. Held every four years at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart, the event is organised by in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH.
The fair focuses on modern agricultural technology and machinery, livestock farming and animal husbandry, crop production, forestry and landscape management, as well as smart farming and Agriculture 4.0. Its scope also covers food and regional produce, renewable energy and sustainability, farm buildings and operational equipment, direct marketing, and services for agricultural businesses. Exhibitors showcase tractors and other agricultural vehicles, machinery for soil cultivation, sowing, crop care and harvesting, as well as equipment for post-harvest processing and storage. Modern housing, feeding, measuring and weighing systems for livestock are also on display. Automation, digital technologies and robotics play an increasingly important role, with examples including automated milking, feeding and cleaning systems. LWH therefore showcases both proven technologies and innovative solutions designed to make agriculture more efficient, sustainable and increasingly digital.
Livestock farming is another major focus of the event. One of its main attractions is the livestock marquee, which houses around 600 farm animals, including cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats and poultry. Visitors gain first-hand insights into livestock farming, breeding, feeding, modern housing systems and animal welfare. At the same time, LWH demonstrates how food is produced and traces the journey of agricultural products from field or farm to consumer. Regional specialities, high-quality food and premium products from Baden-Württemberg, together with direct farm sales, highlight the close links between agriculture, the food industry and consumers.
Other highlights include demonstrations of modern agricultural machinery, innovative smart farming and livestock solutions, and concepts relating to renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. The specialist agricultural programme is complemented by a consumer exhibition covering several thousand square metres and featuring products and services for the home and garden, hobbies, health, wellness and food and drink, as well as tourism-related offerings. In this way, LWH combines specialist information, innovation and product showcases with an engaging, first-hand experience of modern agriculture.
The fair’s location at the Cannstatter Wasen, one of Stuttgart’s best-known event venues, reinforces its strong regional significance. The extensive site in the Bad Cannstatt district is easily accessible by both public transport and car. Every four years, LWH turns Stuttgart into a major meeting place for agriculture, agricultural technology, food and rural development for nine days, combining professional exchange with practical insights into modern agriculture in Baden-Württemberg.
The LWH Landwirtschaftliches Hauptfest will take place on 8 days from Sunday, 27. September to Sunday, 04. October 2026 in Stuttgart.
