The Wolle-Festival Donaueschingen is a public exhibition and creative meeting place for anyone with a passion for wool, yarn, knitting, crochet and textile crafts. The event combines shopping opportunities with inspiration, professional exchange and hands-on learning. It is aimed at hobby crafters, dedicated creatives, textile artists, designers and enthusiasts of high-quality handmade products. The organisers see the festival as a meeting place for textile artists, craft enthusiasts and influencers.

The Wolle-Festival takes place annually at the Donauhallen in Donaueschingen. Centrally located, the venue provides a modern and versatile setting for showcasing wool, yarn, craft supplies and creative products. With its spacious exhibition areas, the Donauhallen offer excellent facilities for exhibitors, workshops and face-to-face interaction between visitors and makers. The venue is accessible and parking is available nearby.

The event is organised by Lorenz GmbH of Dessau-Roßlau through its arts and event management division. According to the company, its experience in organising festivals and events has been built up over many years and now spans three generations. The concept focuses on diversity, a welcoming atmosphere, personal interaction and workshops, as well as a carefully balanced selection of exhibitors.

The exhibition focuses on wool and high-quality yarns, knitting, crochet and a variety of creative textile and handicraft techniques. Products on offer include pure new wool and merino, alpaca, mohair and cashmere yarns, alongside cotton, silk and blended yarns as well as hand-dyed varieties. The range also includes knitting needles, crochet hooks, circular knitting needles, yarn winders, swifts, scissors, counting frames, patterns and other craft accessories. Handmade items, one-off pieces and original designer products further complement the selection. In this way, the festival provides an alternative to mass-produced goods, giving visitors the opportunity to discover high-quality materials, limited-production items and unique pieces at first hand.

Workshops, demonstrations and personal encounters with exhibitors add particular value to the event. Visitors can watch makers at work, learn about different techniques and how textile products are created, and in some cases take part in workshops themselves. The festival also provides opportunities to exchange ideas with designers, manufacturers and fellow craft enthusiasts, making it easy to discover new patterns, materials, techniques and creative ideas.

Exhibitors primarily represent the yarn and wool trade, textile design, arts and crafts, craft supplies, independent creative makers, and knitting and crochet products. According to the organiser, selected exhibitors and designers from across Europe take part, presenting and selling a wide range of creative products, ideas and unique pieces. The main visitor groups include hobby crafters and DIY enthusiasts, knitters and crocheters, as well as textile artists, designers, creatives and influencers looking to discover new materials, products and techniques and gather inspiration.

The Wolle-Festival Donaueschingen forms part of a nationwide series of events. Lorenz GmbH organises Wolle-Festivals at various locations, regularly bringing the textile craft scene to different regions of Germany. The Donauhallen venue therefore also provides Donaueschingen with a local meeting place for a craft community that is connected across regions.

Combining high-quality yarns, specialist accessories, handmade one-off pieces, workshops and personal interaction, the Wolle-Festival Donaueschingen offers a varied insight into the world of contemporary crafts. The Donauhallen provide a modern, functional setting for the event, creating an engaging festival experience for visitors, exhibitors and makers alike.

The Wolle-Festival will take place on 2 days from Saturday, 20. March to Sunday, 21. March 2027 in Donaueschingen.
