The Wolle-Festival Trier is a public exhibition and creative meeting place for anyone with an interest in wool, yarn, knitting, crochet and textile crafts. The event combines shopping opportunities with inspiration, professional exchange and hands-on learning. It is aimed at hobby crafters, ambitious creatives, textile artists, designers and enthusiasts of high-quality handmade products. The organisers see the festival as a meeting place for textile artists, craft enthusiasts and influencers.
In Trier, the Wolle-Festival is held annually at the SWT Arena. The modern venue provides a spacious setting for showcasing wool, yarn, craft supplies and creative products. Its facilities make it well suited to exhibition stands, workshops, demonstrations and direct interaction between visitors and exhibitors.
The event is organised by Lorenz GmbH of Dessau-Roßlau through its arts and event management division. According to the company, it has many years of experience in organising festivals and events, with expertise now spanning three generations. The concept focuses on variety, a welcoming atmosphere, personal interaction and workshops, as well as a carefully balanced selection of exhibitors.
The exhibition focuses primarily on wool and high-quality yarns, knitting, crochet and a range of creative textile and needlecraft techniques. Products on offer include pure new wool and merino, alpaca, mohair and cashmere yarns, alongside cotton, silk and blended yarns as well as hand-dyed varieties. The range also includes knitting needles, crochet hooks, circular knitting needles, ball winders, yarn swifts, scissors, counting frames, patterns and other craft accessories. Handmade items, one-off pieces and creative designer products complement the selection. In this way, the festival provides an alternative to mass-produced goods and gives visitors the opportunity to discover high-quality materials, limited-production items and unique pieces first-hand.
Workshops, demonstrations and personal encounters with exhibitors are a particular highlight. Visitors can watch craftspeople at work, learn about different techniques and how textile products are made, and in some cases take part in workshops themselves. The festival also provides opportunities to exchange ideas with designers, manufacturers and fellow craft enthusiasts, making it easy to discover new patterns, materials, techniques and creative ideas.
Exhibitors primarily represent the yarn and wool trade, textile design, arts and crafts, craft supplies, independent creative makers, and knitting and crochet supplies. According to the organiser, selected exhibitors and designers from across Europe take part, presenting and selling a wide range of creative products, ideas and unique pieces. The main visitor groups include private craft and DIY enthusiasts, knitters and crocheters, as well as textile artists, designers, creatives and influencers looking to discover new materials, products and techniques and gather inspiration.
The Wolle-Festival Trier forms part of a nationwide series of events. Lorenz GmbH organises Wolle-Festivals at various locations, regularly bringing the textile craft scene to different regions of Germany. In doing so, the festivals create local meeting places for a craft community with connections extending well beyond the region.
With its combination of high-quality yarns, specialist accessories, handmade one-off pieces, workshops and personal interaction, the Wolle-Festival Trier offers a varied insight into the world of contemporary crafts. The SWT Arena Trier provides a modern and spacious setting for the event, creating ideal conditions for discovering new products, shopping, learning and exchanging ideas within the textile craft and creative community.
The Wolle-Festival will take place on 2 days from Saturday, 26. June to Sunday, 27. June 2027 in Trier.
