The Wolle Festival is an annual consumer exhibition dedicated to premium yarns, textile crafts and creative fibre arts. Held at Festhalle Niederaußem in Bergheim, the event brings together passionate knitting and crochet enthusiasts, professional designers, textile artists, independent makers and small manufacturers, as well as anyone with an interest in high-quality textiles and traditional craftsmanship.
Organised by Lorenz GmbH, the festival provides a platform for premium materials, creative inspiration and professional exchange within the textile crafting community. The focus is on luxury natural fibres and premium yarns, including pure wool, Merino wool, alpaca, mohair, cashmere, cotton and silk, alongside sustainable and hand-dyed yarns. The exhibition is complemented by an extensive range of knitting and crochet accessories, including knitting needles, crochet hooks, stitch markers, yarn winders, swifts, scissors, buttons and many other tools and accessories for discerning crafters.
The festival also showcases a broad range of traditional and contemporary textile craft techniques. Visitors can explore knitting, crochet, felting, spinning, weaving and knotting, while discovering handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces, exclusive designer collections and bespoke textile products created by independent makers and artisan workshops. Exhibitors share their expertise, introduce innovative materials and demonstrate new techniques while presenting the latest developments and trends from the international fibre arts community.
One of the festival's highlights is its programme of live demonstrations and hands-on workshops, where visitors can try a variety of techniques for themselves under the guidance of experienced designers and specialist exhibitors. The opportunity to exchange ideas, enjoy a creative atmosphere and gain first-hand knowledge and inspiration has established the Wolle Festival as a popular meeting place for the German-speaking textile crafting community.
Exhibitors primarily represent the yarn manufacturing and wool trade, textile design, artisan crafts, haberdashery and accessory production, as well as small-scale manufacturers and specialist craft businesses. The festival attracts a wide audience, including knitters, crocheters, felt makers, weavers, spinners, textile artists, designers, workshop tutors, specialist retailers and anyone seeking premium materials and fresh inspiration for their own creative projects.
