The Bad Lauchstädt Christkind'l Market, an annual highlight in the charming Goethe town of Bad Lauchstädt, traditionally takes place during the third week of Advent. This festive event, first held in 1991, has since evolved into one of the most remarkable Christmas markets in the region.
Located in Saxony-Anhalt, Bad Lauchstädt is renowned not only for its connection to Goethe but also for its picturesque setting, creating a unique atmosphere for the Christkind'l Market. The market mainly spreads across the idyllic spa park and the historic castle courtyard, surrounded by the impressive grounds of the Duke's castle, lending the market an incomparably historic ambiance.
The market stalls, extending through the spa park and the castle courtyard, offer a variety of attractions to visitors. A special feature of this market is the medieval market in the castle courtyard, providing a journey back in time to bygone eras. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in history and experience medieval craftsmanship as well as traditional performances.
Beyond the medieval market, visitors can look forward to many more specialties. Artisans display their work, and there is an array of traditional delicacies and beverages to sample. From roasted almonds and gingerbread to mulled wine and regional specialties – the market offers something for every palate.
Each year, the Bad Lauchstädt Christkind'l Market attracts thousands of visitors, leaving unforgettable impressions on both young and old.
The Christmas fair takes place annually, and therefore for the thirty-third time previsibly in December 2025 in Bad Lauchstädt.
