The Christmas Market in Rafz is a festive event that, every year toward the end of November, marks the joyful beginning of the Advent season. Along the festively decorated Märktgass, the village transforms into a magical Christmas setting lined with numerous market stalls.
The lovingly adorned booths offer a wide range of traditional Christmas items, fine handicrafts, jewelry, as well as regional and seasonal specialties. Tempting aromas of freshly baked treats, warming mulled wine, and other delicacies invite visitors to explore the rich culinary variety as they stroll among the stands.
The market’s special atmosphere is enhanced by its charming surroundings: historic buildings along the lane provide a unique backdrop, turning a walk through the stalls into a truly atmospheric experience. The event is organized by the Rafzerfeld Trade Association, which not only ensures the market takes place but also actively supports the local economy and village life.
Visitors can look forward to a blend of festive spirit, sociable gathering, and Christmas flair. A hallmark of the market is its family-friendly yet lively character, which delights both young and old. Beyond the gift ideas and culinary delights, the market offers the chance to leave everyday life behind and immerse oneself in a contemplative yet cheerful pre-Christmas world.
The municipality of Rafz itself, idyllically situated in the Zürcher Unterland, is known for its rural character, winegrowing tradition, and vibrant village life. This deep connection to the region is also reflected in the Christmas Market, which, with its authentic charm and festive diversity, is one of the highlights of the Advent season.
