FAMILY+ Tulln an der Donau

FAMILY+ is an annual public, family and experiential event held at the Messe Tulln exhibition centre in Lower Austria. The emphasis is on discovering, trying out and taking part together. Alongside information, services and products for families, the event offers numerous hands-on activities, workshops, games and leisure attractions, as well as a varied programme of live entertainment. FAMILY+ is aimed primarily at families with children and teenagers, while also appealing to visitors interested in leisure activities, games, creativity, education, travel, sport and family-oriented products.

FAMILY+ is organised by Messe Wieselburg GmbH, which continues to develop the event concept together with its initiator and Managing Director, Andreas Koch.

FAMILY+ brings together a broad range of lifestyle and leisure themes under one roof. Key areas include family services and activities, Games & Fun, arts, crafts and decoration, leisure, sport and mobility, holidays and day trips, as well as lifestyle and household products. The programme is complemented by “Check your future”, an education and careers section aimed particularly at school pupils, covering areas such as training and education, technology, STEM, digitalisation, programming and careers of the future. This breadth is reflected in the wide variety of exhibitors, whose offerings range from games and toys, leisure and sporting activities, creative products and craft materials, and mobility solutions to family-friendly holiday destinations and attractions, household and everyday family products, and education, advisory and support services.

A defining feature of FAMILY+ is its strong emphasis on participation and hands-on experiences. Products and activities are not simply displayed but can be tried and experienced first-hand. Visitors can test board games, take part in creative activities and workshops, discover new leisure pursuits or find inspiration for family-friendly days out. Rather than being a conventional product showcase, the event is designed around interaction and practical experiences, supported by numerous activity stations and a diverse programme of live entertainment.

Another distinctive feature of FAMILY+ is its combination with MODELLBAUTAGE, the model-making event held simultaneously at the exhibition centre and accessible with the same ticket. Exhibits include model railways, aircraft, ships and plastic models, as well as radio-controlled and functional models. One of the main attractions is Austria’s largest indoor model construction site dedicated to functional model building.

FAMILY+ brings together exhibitors from a wide range of sectors, including toys and games, leisure and sport, tourism and visitor attractions, mobility, arts and crafts, hobbies, lifestyle and household products, education and careers guidance, and family-related services. Unlike a traditional trade fair, the event is primarily aimed at families, parents, children and teenagers. “Check your future” also gives school pupils an opportunity to explore different education and training pathways and learn about career opportunities in emerging fields. In this way, FAMILY+ combines a leisure exhibition, an information platform and a family day out within a single event concept.

Messe Tulln provides an easily accessible venue for the event. Tulln is around 30 kilometres from Vienna and can be reached via the A22, with access from other directions via the A1, S5 and A21. During FAMILY+, visitors travelling by public transport can use free shuttle buses from Tulln Hauptbahnhof and Tullnerfeld railway station directly to the exhibition centre. Free parking is also available in the designated visitor car parks. Overall, FAMILY+ is a diverse family and experiential event that brings together leisure, information, education and entertainment, giving visitors the opportunity to try new activities, get creative and discover fresh ideas for leisure time and everyday family life.
