The Wittenberg Christmas market on the market square in the Lutherstadt Wittenberg is an atmospheric experience for locals and guests from near and far. Next to Martin Luther's preaching church, framed by magnificent town houses, the festively decorated Christmas market is located on the historic market square and offers a unique backdrop with glittering Christmas trees, pyramids and carousels.
Every year in the run-up to Christmas, the smell of crepes and mulled wine is in the air. Almond burners, mulled wine sellers and artisans then offer their Christmas goods in small wooden houses every year. The Christmas market in the historic Luther town of Wittenberge has a long tradition and offers its visitors a nice way to get in the mood for the festive season. The Christmas market program is rounded off by a colorful program on the Christmas market stage.
On the city's main square, the market square, stands the 13th century city church, known as the mother church of the Reformation, and where Luther preached. Wittenberg is a university town on the Elbe in eastern Germany and gained its outstanding importance as one of the most important German centers of political, cultural and artistic endeavors as early as the 16th century.
