HOME-Hochschulmesse Kassel

The HOME University Careers Fair (HOME-Hochschulmesse) is the University of Kassel’s flagship careers and recruitment event. It brings together students, graduates, and employers from a wide range of industries in one location. Rather than focusing on study choices, the event is dedicated to supporting the transition from university to professional life. It provides students with the opportunity to establish early contacts with prospective employers, explore career opportunities, and gain insight into graduate entry routes and long-term career development prospects.

The fair is held at the University of Kassel’s Campus Center, whose central location on campus provides an ideal setting for direct interaction between employers and emerging talent. The HOME University Careers Fair is organised by the VWI Hochschulgruppe Kassel e. V., the University of Kassel’s student chapter of the Association of German Industrial Engineers (Verband Deutscher Wirtschaftsingenieure). Each year, the volunteer organising team plans and delivers the event, creating an important platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange between academia and industry.

The fair focuses on careers, recruitment, and graduate employment. Its scope also encompasses engineering, information technology and digitalisation, business and consulting, industry, energy, infrastructure, the public sector, and healthcare. Exhibiting organisations promote internships, working student positions, graduate trainee programmes, entry-level roles, and topics for bachelor's and master's dissertations. They also provide information on career pathways, company profiles, professional development opportunities, and current projects. As a result, students gain valuable insight into a wide range of professions and can establish meaningful connections with recruiters and specialist departments while still at university.

A distinctive feature of the HOME University Careers Fair is its practice-oriented supporting programme. In addition to meeting exhibitors, visitors can take advantage of a complimentary CV review, a health check, a blood donation campaign including a vitamin D test, and a dedicated networking lounge that encourages informal professional interaction. The event places particular emphasis on personalised career guidance and fostering direct connections between employers and highly qualified future graduates.

The exhibitors represent a broad cross-section of industry. Participating organisations come from sectors including mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, software development, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, logistics, management consulting, financial and insurance services, healthcare, as well as public sector organisations and government authorities. Consequently, the fair is designed for students and graduates from almost every academic discipline, particularly engineering, computer science, business, economics, and the natural sciences, as well as related fields, who are seeking internships, dissertation opportunities, or graduate employment.

As a modern event venue, the University of Kassel’s Campus Center provides excellent facilities for a careers fair. Owing to its central location, it is easily accessible by both public transport and car. Tram and bus stops are situated within walking distance of the campus, ensuring convenient access for visitors from Kassel and the surrounding region.
