Schweissen & Schneiden Essen

15. - 19. September 2025 | World’s leading trade fair for joining, cutting and surfacing technologies

The "Schweissen & Schneiden" is the world’s leading trade fair for joining, cutting, and coating technologies—a key event in industrial manufacturing and an essential platform for anyone looking to drive innovation or future-proof their position in these fields. As the international flagship trade fair and technological showcase for the industry, it is often referred to as the "Olympics of welding technology." With deep technical content and an exceptional concentration of innovation, it brings together global market leaders, decision-makers, developers, and skilled professionals in a highly specialized environment.

Organized by Messe Essen GmbH, an experienced trade fair organizer based at the modernized MESSE ESSEN venue—one of Europe’s most architecturally and technologically advanced exhibition centers—the event benefits from a central location in Germany, ensuring excellent accessibility and providing a professional setting for international business contacts. The trade fair takes place every four years; after being held once in 2023 on a two-year cycle, it will return to its regular four-year rhythm from 2025 onwards.

"Schweissen & Schneiden" is far more than a product showcase—it serves as a comprehensive platform for innovation and professional exchange. In addition to traditional welding and cutting techniques, it presents the full spectrum of modern joining technologies, ranging from arc and beam welding processes to thermal spraying, brazing, and friction welding, as well as additive manufacturing methods such as SLM (Selective Laser Melting) and LMD/DED (Laser Metal Deposition). The exhibition also covers a wide range of cutting technologies—from thermal processes like oxy-fuel, plasma, and laser cutting to mechanical methods such as waterjet cutting, milling, and CNC shearing.

A particular emphasis is placed on future-oriented technologies in automation, digitalization, and robotics. Welding and cutting robots, collaborative systems ("cobots"), real-time process monitoring, IIoT solutions, simulation tools, and software-driven control systems all demonstrate how the industry is advancing toward the smart factory. The exhibition is further enriched by system solutions, quality assurance services, and both destructive and non-destructive testing methods. Research institutes, professional associations, and the DVS (German Welding Society) also play a significant role with their contributions.

The accompanying program offers a wide variety of workshops, conferences, and live demonstrations. Competitions such as "Live Welding" and initiatives like "young welders" provide important momentum in training and talent development. Additionally, suppliers of protective equipment and safety solutions—from modern welding helmets to extraction systems and welding consumables—present practical innovations.

"Schweissen & Schneiden" is not just a highly specialized trade fair—it is a global center of excellence for all aspects of joining and cutting, from manual applications to fully automated high-end production. Anyone looking to understand, shape, or benefit from developments in the industry cannot afford to miss this event.

On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 5 days of the fair, from 11. September to 15. September 2023, about 1030 exhibitors and 50000 visitors on the Schweissen & Schneiden in Essen.

The 21st edition of the Schweissen & Schneiden takes place on 5 days from Mon., 15.09.2025 to Fri., 19.09.2025 in Essen.
